  2. Today, I’ll be doing common Internet abbreviations!
  3. Basically we can see abbreviations everywhere on the Internet
  4. We’ve mentioned some in the first episode
  5. but there are still a lot more we haven’t talked about
  6. So here we are, episode two
  7. This video will mainly be in English
  8. so remember to turn on the Chinese or English subtitles if needed
  9. People are really lazy sometimes
  10. we want to spend the least amount of time
  11. to convey as much as possible
  12. Thus, I present to you, abbreviations and acronyms
  13. In our last episode
  14. we covered a lot of really popular online abbreviations
  15. However, social media and language is always changing
  16. and evolving so fast
  17. that is why we have an endless list to talk about
  18. But of course, as usual
  19. I’ll be talking about the most popular and commonly-used ones
  20. Best Friends Forever 永遠的摯友
  21. Your BFF will be what you call your best friend
  22. Because you love them so much
  23. you’d want to be friends with them for all eternity
  24. Be Right Back 馬上回來
  25. Normally seen when one has to leave a chat for a short while
  26. to do something else
  27. They are promising that
  28. they will be absent for a little while
  29. but what they’re gonna do wouldn’t take too long
  30. Got To Go 先走了
  31. This is somewhat similar to BRB
  32. but GTG, means leaving the chat for good
  33. When you say GTG
  34. it’ll normally mean when you need to do something else
  35. be somewhere else
  36. and therefore need to end the conversation
  37. I Don’t Know 我不知道
  38. People asks questions all the time
  39. Sometimes you know the answer to it
  40. sometimes you don’t
  41. So IDK can be pretty useful
  42. when you wanna prevent other people
  43. from asking too many questions
  44. I Know Right 是不是
  45. This is often said
  46. when you absolutely agree with something someone else said
  47. Personally, this is one of my favorite(s)
  48. You can’t say it as, “I know, right.”
  49. you have to say it like “I know right www~~~~”
  50. Shake My Head 無言傻眼
  51. SMH is normally used
  52. when someone does something so stupid
  53. you’re either disgusted, in disbelief
  54. or so annoyed that you’re at a loss for words
  55. SMH would be to do this
  56. *shakes head*
  57. And you could also add in a facepalm for effect
  58. *facepalm shakes head*
  59. In Real Life 在現實生活裡
  60. IRL basically means in the real world
  61. and not like online, on social media
  62. or in books and movies
  63. You may be commenting on how someone acts in real life
  64. compared to their online persona
  65. Or how an actor or actress really is like
  66. outside of the characters they play in their movies
  67. In My Opinion 我的看法是
  68. IMO in other words mean
  69. what I think about something or someone
  70. You can also add an H in there
  71. making it IMHO
  72. which stands for “in my humble opinion”
  73. But be careful about using IMHO
  74. because purposefully stating something as humble
  75. makes it even less so
  76. and instead a little bit sarcastic
  77. Away From Keyboard 不在電腦前
  78. AFK is often used in a gaming context
  79. written to let people know you’re not available right now
  80. When you say you’re AFK
  81. you are literally away from your keyboard
  82. which equally means you’re away from your computer
  83. This is to let your friends and teammates know
  84. that they should wait for you to come back
  85. Also Known As 又稱為
  86. AKA is used when there are two or more names to someone
  87. and you will use it to make a reference to all the other names
  88. I don’t know why
  89. but the usage of AKA sounds very chuunibyou to me
  90. Perhaps it’s because every time people like to put strange names behind AKA
  91. something like
  92. Hey, it’s Crown
  93. AKA, Sapphire Goddess
  94. Oh!!! It’s kinda like Game of Thrones!
  95. You know how they like to put
  96. tons of AKAs behind their name
  97. Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen
  98. the first of her name
  99. AKA Queen of Meereen
  100. Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea
  101. The Unburnt
  102. Breaker of Chains
  103. and the Mother of Dragons
  104. Phew
  105. Just Kidding 開玩笑
  106. This is pretty easy
  107. and I think most of you know what this means
  108. I think this abbreviation is very complicated
  109. because it has various meanings
  110. 1. You really were only joking
  111. 2. When you were actually really serious but people didn’t take you seriously
  112. 3. When you said something stupid
  113. 4. When you said something you regret and you wanted to take it back or cover it up
  114. Laugh My Ass Off 大笑
  115. We use this all the time
  116. and can be seen as a higher leveled “LOL”
  117. When you laugh your ass off
  118. don’t take it literally
  119. but just see it as laughing really, really hard
  120. You can add in a F for more effect
  121. making it LMFAO “laughing my fat ass off”
  122. Roll On The Floor Laughing 笑到在地上滾
  123. Similar to LMAO, ROTFL
  124. is also used to express great amusement or exaggerated laughter
  125. To take it to a degree higher
  126. you can combine ROTFL with LMFAO
  127. making it ROTFLMFAO
  128. "roll on the floor laughing my fat ass off"
  129. But this is so long
  130. you can hardly call it an abbreviation anymore...
  131. So, the above are the acronyms and abbreviations
  132. that I’ve compiled for you today
